크리스티앙은 미국 미주리주 세인트루이스 출신의 스윙 댄서이자 음악가입니다. 그는 강사, 오가나이저, 그리고 열정적인 소셜 댄서로서, 음악과 춤을 통해 사람들을 하나로 모으는 일에 인생의 많은 부분을 헌신해 왔습니다.

십대 시절, 아프리카계 미국인의 전통 춤이 가진 즉흥성, 강렬한 리듬감, 그리고 공동체적 창의성에 매료된 이후, 그는 줄곧 재즈 기반의 예술 형태를 깊이 탐구해 왔습니다. 또한 강사, 작가, 그리고 공연자로서 자신이 배워 온 이야기, 음악, 그리고 기술을 다른 이들과 나누는 것을 큰 특권이자 기쁨으로 여기고 있습니다.

그는 Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown과 International Lindy Hop Championships에서 여러 차례 수상한 경력이 있으며, 특히 Jenny Shirar와 함께한 안무로도 높은 평가를 받았습니다. 또한 9년 동안 세계적으로 유명한 Nevermore Jazz Ball & St. Louis Swing Dance Festival의 공동 주최자로 활동했으며, 현재도 Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl을 기획하며 공동체적 예술 표현을 지속적으로 추구하고 있습니다.

이번 SEOUL Lindyfest를 통해 그는 파트너 나탈리아와 함께 한국에서 린디합(Lindy Hop), 어센틱 재즈(Authentic Jazz), 그리고 세인트루이스 쉐그(St. Louis Shag) 등 다양한 스윙 댄스를 소개할 예정입니다. 그의 열정적인 가르침과 깊이 있는 예술적 접근을 통해, 참가자들은 스윙 댄스의 본질을 더욱 풍부하게 경험하고, 역사적 맥락 속에서 춤을 배우는 특별한 기회를 갖게 될 것입니다.

Christian Frommelt (he/they) is a swing dancer and musician from St. Louis, Missouri. As a teacher, organizer, and social dancer, he has dedicated much of his life to bringing people together through music and dance.

As a teenager, he was captivated by the African-American vernacular dance values of spontaneity, rhythmic propulsion, and communal improvisation. Since then, he has been devoted to learning jazz-based artforms. He considers it a privilege to share the stories, sounds, and skills he has gained along the way as a teacher, writer, and performer.

He has been recognized with competitive accolades at the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown and International Lindy Hop Championships, including awards for choreography with Jenny Shirar. For nine years, he served as the co-organizer of the renowned Nevermore Jazz Ball & St. Louis Swing Dance Festival and continues to organize the Cherokee Street Jazz Crawl to foster collective artistic expression.

Additionally, since 2019, he has been playing piano for the Gaslight Squares jazz band, preserving and celebrating the traditions of jazz through music.

At SEOUL Lindyfest, he will introduce various swing dance styles, including Lindy Hop, Authentic Jazz, and St. Louis Shag, to the Korean dance community. Through his passionate teaching and deep artistic approach, participants will have a unique opportunity to experience the essence of swing dance and learn within its historical context.
